Chinsea Linda Lee (born on October 1, 1996), known as Shenseea, is a singer from Jamaica. She is famous for her dancehall music. Dancehall is a type of Jamaican popular music.
Shenseea became well-known for her song "Pure Souls" with Roddy Ricch and Kanye West in 2021. This song even made it onto the Billboard Hot 100 chart, which lists the most popular songs in the United States. Because of her work on Kanye West's album Donda, she was nominated for a Grammy Award for Album of the Year.
She signed with Interscope Records and released her first album, Alpha, in 2022. This album reached number two on the Top Reggae Albums chart. Her second album, Never Gets Late Here (2024), also did very well. Shenseea has won important awards like an NAACP Image Award and a MOBO Award.

Early Life and School
Shenseea was born in Jamaica. Her mother is Jamaican, and her father is from Korea.
She went to Mona High School. After that, she studied Entertainment Management at Exed Community College. However, she had to leave college because she had money problems.
When she was growing up, Shenseea loved listening to Pop, R&B, and Soul music. She always wanted to be a Pop singer.
Her Music Career
Shenseea spent a few years working hard to become an artist. Then, she signed with the Rockstar music label. She became more famous after she remixed a popular song called "Loodi" by Vybz Kartel.
In 2015, she performed on a smaller stage at Reggae Sumfest, a big music festival. The next year, in 2017, she performed on the main stage! As she became more popular, she started touring all over the world.
In 2016, Shenseea won several awards. These included "Young Hot and Hype Artist" and "Break Out Celebrity of 2016." Her song "Loodi" with Vybz Kartel won "Collaboration of The Year." Besides dancehall, she is also good at rapping. In 2017, she worked with Sean Paul on the song "Rolling." She also joined him on his European tour.
In 2018, Shenseea was featured on Christina Aguilera's album Liberation. She sang on the song "Right Moves." Later that year, she worked with Vybz Kartel again on "Secret (Remix)."
Growing Success
In 2019, Shenseea signed with Interscope Records. She released a hip-hop and dancehall song called "Blessed" with American artist Tyga. The music video for "Blessed" got over 58 million views on YouTube by 2022.
In 2020, she worked with Jamaican music producer Rvssian on a song called "IDKW." This song also featured American rappers Swae Lee and Young Thug. That same year, Shenseea appeared on albums by Masego and Major Lazer.
Her song "Lighter," with Tarrus Riley and Rvssian, became a huge hit in Jamaica and other Caribbean countries. This happened after Shenseea started a singing challenge that went viral. The music video for "Lighter" has over 100 million views on YouTube.
Grammy Nomination and Awards
In 2021, Shenseea worked with Kanye West on his album Donda. She sang on the songs "Pure Souls" and "Ok Ok pt 2." She even performed with Kanye West at his event for Donda in Chicago. For her work on this album, Shenseea was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2022. This was her first Grammy nomination!
Also in 2021, Shenseea started working with Wassim "Sal" Slaiby, who also manages famous artists like the Weeknd and Doja Cat. She won "Best Reggae Act" at the MOBO Awards in 2021.
In 2022, Shenseea's 2018 song "Pon Mi" became very popular on TikTok. She was also nominated for an MTV Video Music Award in 2022. The next year, she presented an award at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards.
In April 2023, she performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. She also went on the Tropical Takeover Tour with Sean Paul and Myke Towers. That same year, she won an NAACP Image Award for "Outstanding International Song" for her work on "Diana" by Fireboy DML.
In late 2023, Shenseea worked on her song "Waistline." On January 26, 2024, she released "Hit and Run" featuring Masicka and Di Genius. "Hit and Run" became one of her biggest hits in Jamaica and other Caribbean countries. The music video has over 60 million views on YouTube.
Shenseea's album Never Gets Late Here was nominated for "Best Reggae Album" at the 2025 Grammy Awards.
