By 2013, he started using the name Kaytranada and gained more fans. In 2014, he signed with XL Recordings. His first album, 99.9%, came out in 2016 and was very popular. In 2019, he released Bubba, which won him two Grammy Awards. One of these was for Best Dance/Electronic Album. Kaytranada is also part of a hip hop group called the Celestics with his brother, Lou Phelps.

Early Life and Music Beginnings

Kaytranada, whose real name is Louis Kevin Celestin, was born on August 25, 1992, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Soon after he was born, his family moved to Saint-Hubert near Montreal, Canada. This is where he grew up and started his music journey.

His parents divorced when he was 14. That same year, Kaytranada began making his own music. His brother Lou Phelps showed him how to use a music program called FL Studio. When he was 15, the first song he ever used to create new music was "September" by Earth, Wind & Fire. Kaytranada later left high school to focus on music full-time. He wanted to help his family financially.

Kaytranada's Music Career

Celestin started his music career in 2010 using the name Kaytradamus. He released two projects under this name before changing it to Kaytranada in 2012. In 2013, Kaytranada became very popular on SoundCloud. This happened after he remixed a song called "If" by Janet Jackson.

He was part of HW&W Recordings, an independent music label. Kaytranada has released many projects and remixes. He has also toured in over 50 cities in Canada, the United States, Europe, and Australia.

In December 2014, he signed a special music deal with XL Recordings. In 2015, Kaytranada opened shows for the famous singer Madonna during her Rebel Heart Tour. He performed for her in Canada and the United States. Around February 2015, people thought Kaytranada was working with producer Rick Rubin. This was later confirmed, and they formed a partnership.

His first album, 99.9%, was released on May 6, 2016. This album featured other artists like GoldLink, AlunaGeorge, Syd, Anderson .Paak, and Vic Mensa. He also worked with Craig David on a song called "Got It Good." Kaytranada won the 2016 Polaris Music Prize for his album 99.9%. The album also received good reviews from music critics.

On December 13, 2019, his second album, Bubba, came out on RCA Records. This album also received positive reviews. On March 14, 2021, Kaytranada won two Grammy Awards. He won for Best Dance Recording for his song '10%' and for Best Dance/Electronic Album for 'Bubba'.

In October 2022, it was announced that Kaytranada would be featured on two songs from Lancey Foux's album Life in Hell. In April 2023, Kaytranada and Aminé released "4eva," a song featuring Pharrell Williams. This was the first song from their joint album, Kaytraminé, which came out on May 19, 2023. This album included guest artists like Pharrell Williams, Freddie Gibbs, Big Sean, Amaarae, and Snoop Dogg.

Kaytranada performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April 2023. In May 2024, Kaytranada announced his third solo album, Timeless, would be released on June 7, 2024. This album features artists like Childish Gambino, PinkPantheress, Don Toliver, and Ravyn Lenae.
