Sebastian Francisco Lletget (born September 3, 1992) is an American professional soccer player. He plays as a midfielder for the Major League Soccer club FC Dallas.

Early Life and Soccer Start

Sebastian Lletget was born in San Francisco, California. His parents are from Argentina. He grew up in South San Francisco, California.

He went to El Camino High School. Sebastian also played for a local soccer club called Santa Clara Sporting. Scouts from the West Ham United International academy noticed him. In 2009, he moved to England to join their youth program.

Club Soccer Journey

Sebastian has played for several soccer clubs during his career.

Starting in England: West Ham United

Lletget signed his first professional contract with West Ham in September 2010. He played in some friendly games before the season started. He was also a substitute for four Premier League games in the 2012–13 season.

His progress was slowed down when he got sick with mononucleosis. Even so, he signed a new contract in 2013. Sebastian made his first official game appearance on January 5, 2014. It was for West Ham against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup.

Playing in the USA: LA Galaxy

On May 8, 2015, Lletget joined LA Galaxy. He played his first game for the Galaxy on May 17, 2015. Just a few days later, on May 30, he played for LA Galaxy II, which is a team connected to LA Galaxy.

Sebastian started his first game with the main LA Galaxy team on June 13. He scored the first goal in that game, which was his first goal for the Galaxy! He kept scoring, getting goals in four games in a row that month.

In 2016, Lletget scored two goals in a U.S. Open Cup match. He scored two more goals in another U.S. Open Cup game, helping the Galaxy reach the semi-finals.

After recovering from an injury in 2017, Sebastian scored his first goal back for the Galaxy. This was in a special game called El Tráfico.

Moving to New England Revolution

On December 14, 2021, Lletget was traded to the New England Revolution. He scored his first goal for them in his very first game, which was a 2–2 tie. On March 9, 2022, he scored the winning goal in a 2022 CONCACAF Champions League game. He scored another league goal in May 2022.

Joining FC Dallas

On August 3, 2022, FC Dallas got Lletget from the Revolution. This trade involved money that clubs use to sign players.

Playing for His Country: International Career

Sebastian Lletget has played for the United States at different age levels. He played for the under-17, under-20, and under-23 teams.

Senior National Team Debut

On January 6, 2017, Sebastian was called to play for the main United States national team (USMNT) for the first time. He played his first game for the USMNT on January 29 against Serbia.

On March 24, 2017, Lletget scored his first goal for the USMNT. It was in a World Cup qualifier game against Honduras. In the same game, he got a serious foot injury and needed surgery. He was out of the game for six months.

He was called back to the national team on October 1, 2018, after recovering from his injury.

Major Tournaments

Lletget played in the CONCACAF Nations League in 2019. He helped the USMNT win the semi-final against Honduras in June 2021. He also played as a substitute in the final, where the USMNT won 3–2 against Mexico.

He also played in the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup for the United States. He was even the team captain twice! He started in the final game, which the United States won 1–0 against their rival, Mexico.

Lletget played in four qualifying games for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He scored a goal in a 4–1 win against Honduras.

Personal Life

In June 2016, it was shared that Sebastian Lletget is in a relationship with singer and actress Becky G. He appeared in her music video "My Man" in 2020. The couple announced they were engaged on December 9, 2022.
