Manuel Turizo first became famous with his song "Una Lady Como Tú" in 2016. He released his first album, ADN, on August 23, 2019. His music mixes different styles like pop, trap, and vallenato. His voice is known for being deep and strong. One of his most famous songs is "La Bachata", which came out in 2022.

Manuel Turizo's Musical Journey

Early Life and Starting Music (2000–2015)

Manuel Turizo spent his childhood in Montería, a town on the coast of Colombia. He began his journey into music when he was thirteen. When Manuel was born in 2000, his parents gave his older brother, Julian, a guitar and a microphone. This was so Julian, who was only two, wouldn't feel left out with a new baby around.

Years later, Manuel tried to learn his brother's guitar, but he felt it wasn't for him. Instead, he started working on his singing voice. At first, he wanted to be a veterinarian, but after taking singing lessons with a Cuban music teacher, he decided to follow his passion for music. As a child, Manuel would practice singing his favorite songs, and his brother Julian would join in with harmonies, guitar, and ukulele. Later, Manuel started writing his own songs more often, especially when his brother was away studying in Medellín.

Becoming Famous and Releasing Albums (2016–Present)

Manuel Turizo officially started his music career in 2016. He released his first two songs, "Baila Conmigo" and "Vámonos," by himself. After that, he became widely known for his hit song "Una Lady Como Tú", which came out on March 16, 2017. This song made him very popular across Latin America. The music video for "Una Lady Como Tú" has been watched over 1.4 billion times on YouTube! Within a year, the song was streamed more than 235 million times on Spotify.

Following this success, he released "Bésame" in May 2017, working with Puerto Rican reggaeton singer Valentino. Because of how well these songs did, Billboard magazine named Manuel Turizo one of the "10 Latin Artists To Watch in 2018."

In September 2018, Manuel Turizo had his first song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This was his collaboration with Ozuna on the song "Vaina Loca". The song reached number 94 and stayed on the chart for two weeks. In October 2018, he worked with Mau y Ricky on the song "Desconocidos". In March 2019, his song "Sola" became his first number one hit on the Billboard Latin Airplay chart.

He released his first album, ADN, on August 23, 2019. This album featured collaborations with many other artists like Zion & Lennox, Noriel, Ozuna, Darell, Nicky Jam, Sech, and Anuel AA. ADN reached number eight on the Billboard Hot Latin Albums chart. In September 2019, Manuel Turizo was chosen as the first Latin "global priority artist" by the French music streaming service Deezer. On March 25, 2020, he performed a virtual concert with Billboard while in quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic. This concert helped raise money for a charity called MusiCares. During the concert, he sang "Una Lady Como Tú" and "Déjala Que Vuelva" without any instruments.

Manuel Turizo's Style

Manuel Turizo comes from a musical family. His father and his brother Julián Turizo are both musicians. Manuel and Julián often perform as a duo, with Manuel singing and Julián playing the ukulele.

Besides Reggaeton, Manuel Turizo has also tried out other music styles like trap, R&B, and vallenato. Billboard magazine has described his singing as "sultry and deep," and his voice is classified as a baritone. Manuel Turizo says that Carlos Vives and Bruno Mars are his biggest musical inspirations. He also looks up to artists like Luis Fonsi, Shakira, Sin Bandera, Justin Bieber, and Chayanne for helping shape his music.
