Life and career

Growing Up and Starting Out (1994–2018)

Camilo Echeverry was born in Medellín, Colombia, in 1994. His family home did not have a radio. Instead, they had a collection of records by artists like The Beatles and Shakira. Camilo said this was his "first seed," meaning it inspired him to love music from a young age.

He first tried out for XS Factor with his sister, Manuela. They did not make it to the final round. But the next year, in 2007, Camilo won the show as a solo artist. After winning, he started his music career with his first song, "Regálame Tu Corazón."

In 2008, Camilo appeared on Colombian TV shows like Super Pá and En los tacones de Eva. He also appeared on a children's program called Bichos. In 2010, he released a mixtape called Tráfico de Sentimientos. Soon after, Camilo decided to take a break from releasing his own music.

In 2015, he moved to Miami, Florida. There, he focused on writing songs for other artists. He wrote popular songs like "Sin Pijama" for Becky G and Natti Natasha. He also wrote "Veneno" for Anitta and "Ya No Tiene Novio" for Sebastian Yatra with Mau y Ricky. "Ya No Tiene Novio" was released in August 2018 and quickly gained over 517 million views on YouTube.

When Camilo started his solo career again, he changed his look. He went from a neat style to a more relaxed, artistic look. He even grew a cool mustache! In 2018, he released the song "Desconocidos" with Manuel Turizo and Mau & Ricky. This song, which used a ukulele, became very popular.

In February 2019, Camilo announced he had signed with Sony Music Latin. This was a big step for his career. On February 22, 2019, Camilo performed at the Venezuela Live Aid concert in Cúcuta, Colombia. This concert helped raise awareness about the struggles in Venezuela. Camilo said it was a very moving experience for him.

He released his first major song, "No Te Vayas," on March 28, 2019. By August, its video had over 59 million views on YouTube. His 2019 song "La Boca" with Mau & Ricky was certified triple-platinum, meaning it sold a lot of copies. After this, he performed "La Boca" and "No Te Vayas" on US television at the 2019 Premios Juventud in Miami.

Camilo then released "Tutu" with Puerto Rican singer Pedro Capó. This song became a huge hit, reaching number two on the Latin Pop Airplay chart. Camilo said the song showed "who I am, what I feel every time I get on a stage or when I see my girlfriend."

Camilo released his first studio album, Por Primera Vez, on April 17, 2020. It quickly became number one on the Billboard Latin Pop Albums chart. The album included "Tutu" and "Favorito," plus other popular songs like "La Mitad" with Christian Nodal.

At the 21st Annual Latin Grammy Awards, Camilo was nominated for six awards. He won the award for Best Pop Song for "Tutu."
