Camilo's Life and Music Journey

Early Life and First Steps in Music (1994–2018)

Camilo Echeverry was born in Medellín, Antioquia, in 1994. His family home did not have a radio. However, they had many records from artists like The Beatles and Shakira. Camilo said this was his "first seed" and his dream was to follow in their footsteps. He first tried out for XS Factor with his sister, Manuela. They did not make it to the final round.

The next year, in 2007, Camilo won the show as a solo artist. He then started his music career. His first song was "Regálame Tu Corazón." In 2008, Camilo appeared on Colombian TV shows. These included Super Pá and En los tacones de Eva. He also appeared on the children's show Bichos. He released a mixtape called Tráfico de Sentimientos in 2010. After this, Camilo decided to take a break from releasing his own music.

In 2015, he moved to Miami, Florida. There, he focused on writing songs for other artists. Some of these hits include "Sin Pijama" by Becky G and Natti Natasha. He also wrote "Veneno" for Anitta. Another song he wrote was "Ya No Tiene Novio" for Sebastian Yatra with Mau y Ricky. This song, released in August 2018, became very popular.

When Camilo restarted his solo music career, he changed his look. He chose a more relaxed, bohemian style. This included growing a handlebar moustache. In 2018, he released "Desconocidos" with Manuel Turizo and Mau & Ricky. This song, which featured a ukulele, became a hit. It reached number 23 on the Billboard Latin Pop Airplay chart.

After "Desconocidos" became successful, Camilo signed with Sony Music Latin in February 2019. On February 22, 2019, Camilo performed at the Venezuela Live Aid concert. This event took place in Cúcuta, Colombia, near the border with Venezuela. He said the concert deeply moved him. He felt happy to help raise awareness about the situation in Venezuela.

He released his first major single, "No Te Vayas," on March 28, 2019. By August of that year, its music video had over 59 million views. His 2019 song "La Boca" with Mau & Ricky was certified triple-platinum. After this song, he performed "La Boca" and "No Te Vayas" at the 2019 Premios Juventud in Miami. This was his first time performing on US television.

Camilo then released "Tutu" with Puerto Rican singer Pedro Capó. This song reached number two on the Latin Pop Airplay chart. Camilo explained that "Tutu" shows who he is and how he feels. He released his first studio album, Por Primera Vez, on April 17, 2020. The album quickly became number one on the Billboard Latin Pop Albums chart. It also reached number five on the Top Latin Albums chart. The album included "Tutu" and "Favorito." It also featured popular songs like "La Mitad" with Christian Nodal and "El Mismo Aire." The latter was later re-released with Pablo Alborán.

At the 21st Annual Latin Grammy Awards, Camilo received six nominations. He won the award for Best Pop Song for "Tutu."

In March 2021, he released his album Mis Manos. This album included songs with Evaluna Montaner, Mau y Ricky, El Alfa, and Los Dos Carnales. Mis Manos was nominated for Album Of The Year and Best Pop Vocal Album at the Latin Grammy Awards.

In September 2022, Camilo released De Adentro Pa Afuera. This album featured collaborations with Myke Towers and Alejandro Sanz. In May 2024, he released cuatro. This album was a contemporary tropical album. It was greatly inspired by music styles Camilo heard growing up, such as Pambiche, Cumbia, and Salsa music.

Since restarting his solo career, Camilo has worked with many global pop artists. These include Shawn Mendes on "KESI Remix" and Selena Gomez on "999." He also collaborated with Camila Cabello on "Ambulancia" and Diljit Dosanjh on "Palpita."
