Early Life and Music Dreams
Ozuna grew up in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He listened to traditional Latin music like salsa and bachata, which influenced his style. He also loved reggaeton artists like Daddy Yankee and Don Omar.
His father passed away when Ozuna was very young. His mother found it hard to raise him alone. So, he was mostly raised by his grandmother. She taught him that "nothing is given to us, that you have to work for what you get."
At age 12, Ozuna decided he wanted to be a singer. His uncle, who was like a father to him, gave him his first microphone that year. Ozuna would rap along to songs by his favorite artists.
He worked at a local bar called El Corozal, where he first performed his music. In 2010, he moved to New York City for a few years, hoping to find more opportunities. There, he learned how to make his own music videos. After three years, he returned to Puerto Rico with his wife and two children.

Ozuna's Music Style

Ozuna is often called the "New King of Reggaeton." He is also known as "el negrito de los ojos claros," which means "the black guy with light eyes." His logo is a teddy bear wearing a hoodie, which shows his friendly side.
Even though he mainly sings reggaeton and trap, Ozuna says that bachata singer Romeo Santos is his favorite artist. He also admires salsa artist Frankie Ruiz. Ozuna enjoys rock music and the electric guitar.
He tries to make music that is respectful and suitable for "the whole family." He has compared himself to Canadian artist Drake. Ozuna says they both are careful not to disrespect women or hurt young people. His songs often talk about relationships and heartbreak, inspired by the emotional style of bachata and salsa.
Personal Life
Ozuna describes himself as a "typical boricua with Dominican blood." He is married to Taina Marie Meléndez, and they have two children, Sofía and Jacob Andrés.
Ozuna loves collecting watches. This hobby started when his grandmother gave him a Toy Story watch as a child. He considers his watch collection his "greatest investment."
In October 2022, Ozuna became the owner of a basketball team in Puerto Rico. The team is called Osos de Manatí (Manatí Bears).
Giving Back
In 2017, Ozuna started a charity called Odisea Children. This organization helps children in need. In 2019, he visited sick children at San Jorge Hospital in San Juan during Christmas time. He also encouraged other reggaeton artists to join him in helping.
