Aladdin is a 2019 American musical fantasy film. It was directed by Guy Ritchie, who also helped write the script with John August. This movie is a live-action remake of Disney's 1992 animated film, also called Aladdin.

The story is based on the folk tale Aladdin and the Magic Lamp, which is part of One Thousand and One Nights. The film stars Will Smith, Mena Massoud, and Naomi Scott. It tells the story of Aladdin, a kind street kid, who falls in love with Princess Jasmine. He also becomes friends with a magical Genie and fights the evil sorcerer Jafar.

Filming for Aladdin began in September 2017 in England and Jordan. It finished in January 2018. The movie first showed in Paris on May 8, 2019. It was released in the United States on May 24, 2019. Aladdin earned over $1 billion worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing films of 2019.

Story of Aladdin

Aladdin is a poor street kid in the city of Agrabah. He lives with his monkey, Abu. One day, he meets Princess Jasmine, who has secretly left her palace. Jasmine wants to rule Agrabah after her father, the Sultan. But she is expected to marry a prince.

Jafar, the Sultan's main advisor, wants to take over the kingdom. He is looking for a magic lamp that only a special person can find. Jafar captures Aladdin and Abu. He offers Aladdin riches if he can get the lamp from the Cave of Wonders.

Inside the cave, Aladdin finds a magic carpet and the lamp. He gives the lamp to Jafar, who then tricks him and kicks him into the cave. But Abu quickly steals the lamp back.

Trapped, Aladdin rubs the lamp. This brings out the powerful Genie, who can grant three wishes. Aladdin cleverly gets them out of the cave without using a wish. He wants to impress Jasmine, so he uses his first wish to become a prince. He promises to use his third wish to make the Genie human.

Aladdin arrives in Agrabah as "Prince Ali." He tries to impress Jasmine, but it's hard. The Genie, pretending to be Aladdin's helper, falls for Dalia, Jasmine's handmaiden. Aladdin and Jasmine grow closer during a ride on the magic carpet. Aladdin lies to Jasmine, saying he is a prince who dressed as a peasant to explore the city.

Jafar finds out Aladdin's secret. He throws Aladdin into the palace moat. The Genie saves Aladdin, using up Aladdin's second wish. Aladdin returns to the palace and stops Jafar's magic. Jafar is arrested. The Sultan agrees that Aladdin can marry Jasmine. But Aladdin breaks his promise to the Genie, worried he can't keep up his prince act without him. The Genie sadly goes back into his lamp.

Jafar's parrot, Iago, frees Jafar. Jafar steals the lamp and becomes the Genie's new master. He uses his first wish to become Sultan. His second wish makes him the most powerful sorcerer. Jafar then reveals Aladdin's true identity and sends him and Abu to a frozen land. He threatens to harm the Sultan and Dalia unless Jasmine marries him. The Genie secretly sends the magic carpet to rescue Aladdin and Abu.

At the wedding, Aladdin returns. Jasmine tries to steal the lamp from Jafar. Jafar uses a sandstorm to catch Aladdin and Jasmine and destroy the magic carpet. Aladdin then tricks Jafar. He tells Jafar that he's still not as powerful as the Genie. Jafar uses his last wish to become "the most powerful being in the universe." This turns Jafar into a genie, trapping him and Iago inside his own lamp. The Genie banishes them to the Cave of Wonders.

Abu saves the magic carpet, and the Genie fixes it. Aladdin keeps his promise and uses his last wish to free the Genie, making him human. The Sultan makes Jasmine the new Sultana, so she can rule without marrying a prince. She and Aladdin marry. The Genie marries Dalia. They start a family and travel the world. The Genie is the sailor who tells the story of Aladdin at the beginning of the film.
