Navid Negahban (نوید نگهبان) is an actor from Iran and America. He has acted in many popular TV shows like 24, Homeland, and Mistresses. He also played the Amahl Farouk / Shadow King in the TV series Legion. You might also know him as the Sultan in the live-action movie Aladdin.

Early Life and Education

Navid Negahban was born in Mashhad, Iran. He loved acting from a young age. When he was just eight years old, he made a big audience laugh by playing an old man on stage.

In 1985, when he was 17, he left Iran. He first went to Turkey and then to Germany, where he lived for eight years. In Germany, he worked with a theater group. Later, in 1993, he moved to the United States to continue his acting career.

Navid is very good at languages. He speaks English, German, and Farsi fluently. He even started learning French for his role in the TV show Legion.

Acting Career Highlights

Navid Negahban has appeared in many well-known TV shows. These include The Shield, The West Wing, Lost, and CSI: Miami. He has worked with other Iranian-American actors too. For example, he worked with Necar Zadegan in 24 and CSI: Miami.

He also worked with Mozhan Marnò in the TV series The Unit and the movie The Stoning of Soraya M.. In that movie, he played the husband of the main character, Soraya. In 2008, Navid used his voice and looks for the character Dr. Challus Mercer in the video game Dead Space. He is also famous for playing the terrorist leader Abu Nazir in the TV series Homeland.

In 2011, Navid won the Best Actor Award. This was for his role in the 2009 Iranian short film, Liberation. He received the award at the Noor Iranian Film Festival. The next year, in 2012, he was asked to be a judge at the same film festival.

In 2015, news outlets like The Hollywood Reporter said that Navid was filming a spy movie called Damascus Cover. This movie was based on a book by Howard Kaplan. Navid played the role of Syrian General Sarraj in the film.

In 2018, he played General Abdul Rashid Dostum in the war movie 12 Strong. A year later, in 2019, he starred as the Sultan in the live-action movie Aladdin. More recently, in 2022, he appeared in the TV show The Cleaning Lady. He played Hayak Barsamian, who was an Armenian Mob Boss.
