Nasim Pedrad (born November 18, 1981) is an American actress and comedian. She is known for her funny roles on TV and in movies. From 2009 to 2014, she was a cast member on the popular show Saturday Night Live.
After Saturday Night Live, Nasim starred in TV shows like Mulaney and New Girl. She also appeared in the horror-comedy series Scream Queens. You might also know her voice from animated movies like The Lorax and Despicable Me 2. She even played a role in the 2019 movie Aladdin. Nasim also created and stars in the TV show Chad.

Her Early Life and Education
Nasim Pedrad was born in Tehran, Iran. When she was three years old, she moved to the United States. Her family first lived in Germany for a short time before joining her father in the U.S. Nasim has a younger sister named Nina, who is also a comedy writer.
Nasim studied at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She graduated in 2003 from the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. She was also part of the UCLA Spring Sing Company, which is a group that performs music and comedy.

Starting Her Comedy Career
Nasim began her comedy journey at a famous place called The Groundlings. This is where many comedians learn and perform. She often performed her own one-woman show, Me, Myself & Iran. This show was so good that it was chosen for the HBO Comedy Festival in Las Vegas in 2007. She even won an award for her funny performance in a show called After School Special.
First TV Appearances
Nasim's first time on television was in an episode of Gilmore Girls. She also made guest appearances on shows like The Winner. She had a regular role as Nurse Suri on the medical drama ER. In 2009, she appeared in an episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Becoming a Star on Saturday Night Live and Beyond
In 2009, Nasim joined the cast of Saturday Night Live (SNL). This is a very popular live comedy show. She was on SNL for five seasons, making people laugh with her different characters.
After leaving SNL in 2014, Nasim starred in the sitcom Mulaney. She also had a recurring role as Officer Aly Nelson on the show New Girl from 2015 to 2018. In 2015, she played Gigi Caldwell in the comedy-horror series Scream Queens.
Nasim has also lent her voice to many animated movies. She was the voice of Isabella Once-ler in The Lorax (2012). She also voiced Jillian in Despicable Me 2 (2013). In 2019, she played Dalia in the live-action movie Aladdin.
In 2020, Nasim starred in the Netflix movie Desperados. In 2021, she launched her own TV series called Chad. She not only stars in the show but also created, wrote, and directed it.
