Kimberly Noel Kardashian (born October 21, 1980) is an American media personality, socialite, and businesswoman. She first became well-known as a friend and stylist for Paris Hilton. In 2007, she and her family started appearing on the reality TV show Keeping Up with the Kardashians. This show was very popular and ran until 2021.

The success of Keeping Up with the Kardashians led to other shows like Kourtney and Kim Take New York and Kourtney and Kim Take Miami. A new show, The Kardashians, started in 2022. Kim Kardashian also started several successful businesses. With her sisters Kourtney and Khloé, she opened the fashion stores called Dash. She also created her own beauty and fragrance companies, KKW Beauty and KKW Fragrance.

In 2019, she launched Skims, a company that sells shaping underwear and loungewear. Skims is now worth billions of dollars. Kim has also released a mobile game, a photo book, and an emoji app. She has acted in movies like PAW Patrol: The Movie and TV shows like American Horror Story. Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people in 2015. She is also one of the most-followed people on social media platforms like Instagram and Twitter. In 2021, Kim Kardashian became a billionaire. She has also become involved in politics, working to change laws about prisons and help people get out of jail.

Kim Kardashian's Early Life

Kimberly Noel Kardashian was born on October 21, 1980, in Los Angeles, California. Her parents are Robert Kardashian and Kris Kardashian. She has an older sister, Kourtney, a younger sister, Khloé, and a younger brother, Rob. Her mother's family is from Scotland and the Netherlands, and her father's family is from Armenia.

In 1991, her parents divorced. Her mother then married Bruce Jenner, who was an Olympic champion. This gave Kim several stepbrothers and stepsisters, including Kendall and Kylie Jenner. Kim went to Marymount High School, an all-girls Catholic school in Los Angeles. Her father, Robert Kardashian, was a lawyer who represented football player O. J. Simpson in a famous trial. Simpson was also Kim's godfather. Kim's father passed away from cancer in 2003.

When she was a teenager, Kim was good friends with Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton. She first started getting attention from the media because she was often seen with Paris Hilton. When she was 16, her father bought her a new car after she crashed her old one. He told her she had to pay for any future car repairs herself. So, she started working at a clothing store called Body in Encino, California, and worked there for four years.

Starting as a Stylist (2003–2006)

By 2003, Kim Kardashian was working as a personal stylist for the singer and actress Brandy. In 2006, she also started working as a stylist for her childhood friend, Paris Hilton. Kim appeared in some episodes of Hilton's reality show, The Simple Life. She was often photographed with Hilton at events and parties.

A public relations expert named Sheeraz Hasan said in 2020 that Kim was "ready to do whatever it takes" to build a successful brand. Kim herself said in 2021 that Paris Hilton "literally gave me a career." In 2006, Kim and her two sisters opened their first fashion boutique called DASH in Calabasas, California.

Becoming a Star (2007–2010)

In October 2007, Kim Kardashian and her family started their own reality TV show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The show featured her mother Kris Jenner, her step-parent Caitlyn Jenner, her siblings Kourtney, Khloé, and Rob Kardashian, and her half-sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner. The show was a big hit for the E! channel. It led to other spin-off shows like Kourtney and Kim Take New York and Kourtney and Kim Take Miami. The main show ended in 2021 after many successful seasons.

Kim made her first movie appearance in the comedy film Disaster Movie (2008). In 2008, she also competed on season seven of Dancing with the Stars. She was the third person to be eliminated from the competition. In 2009, she launched her first perfume, simply called "Kim Kardashian." She also released a workout DVD series and appeared as a guest judge on America's Next Top Model.

By 2010, Kim Kardashian had many endorsement deals, including promoting food products for Carl's Jr.. In July 2010, a wax figure of Kim Kardashian was revealed at Madame Tussauds in New York City. Kim, Kourtney, and Khloé wrote a book together called Kardashian Konfidential. It was released in November 2010 and became a best-seller. In December 2010, she filmed a music video for a song called "Jam (Turn It Up)". She said that half of the money from the song would go to a cancer foundation.

In 2010, Kim also helped produce a reality TV show called The Spin Crowd. She appeared on season ten of The Apprentice and guest-starred on the show 90210 with her sisters. Reports said that Kim Kardashian earned about $6 million in 2010, making her one of the highest-paid reality stars in Hollywood.

Growing Her Influence (2011–2016)

In 2011, Kim Kardashian released her third perfume, "Gold." She also released a novel called Dollhouse with her sisters Kourtney and Khloé. In 2012, E! renewed Keeping Up with the Kardashians for two more seasons in a deal reportedly worth $50 million. That year, she released two more perfumes, "True Reflection" and "Glam." In the 2013 movie Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor, Kim played a co-worker. Kim Kardashian launched Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, a mobile game for phones, in June 2014. The goal of the game is to become a Hollywood star. The game was very popular and earned $1.6 million in its first five days. In July, the game's creator announced it was one of the top-earning games in Apple's App Store. She also voiced an alien character in an episode of the animated series American Dad! in 2014.

Kardashian was featured on the cover of Paper magazine's winter 2014 issue. The photos caused a huge reaction on social media. The magazine's website received 15.9 million views in one day, which was much more than usual. In May 2015, Kim released a book called Selfish. It was a collection of self-taken photos of herself. Critics generally liked the book, calling it "unexpectedly revealing." That year, she was also on the cover of Vogue Spain and released an emoji app for iOS devices called Kimoji. In February 2018, Kim co-produced a reality competition show called Glam Masters. The show featured beauty bloggers competing to become a "Glam Master" and work with Kim on a makeup line. She also made a small appearance in the movie Ocean's 8 in June 2018. In September 2018, Kim co-produced a prank reality web series called You Kiddin' Me.

In May 2019, Kim appeared in a music video for a song by DJ duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Paris Hilton. In June, Kim announced a new line of shapewear called Kimono. However, she received a lot of criticism because the name "Kimono" is a traditional Japanese outfit, and people felt it disrespected Japanese culture. In August 2019, she renamed her shapewear company to "Skims."

Skims launched in September 2019 and quickly became popular. The brand is known for its wide range of sizes and skin tones, making it more inclusive. The Kardashians and Acting (2020–Present)

On April 5, 2020, a documentary called Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project was released. It starred and was produced by Kim Kardashian. The documentary followed her work to change the justice system and address the large number of people in prison in the US. In December 2020, it was announced that Kim, her sisters, and her mother Kris Jenner signed a big deal with Hulu to create new content.

A new reality TV series called The Kardashians premiered in April 2022. It quickly became the most-watched series premiere for Hulu in the US. As of November 2023, it is the most-watched unscripted series in Hulu's history. In July 2024, The Kardashians was renewed for more seasons.

Kim Kardashian appeared in a documentary about criminal justice reform called The First Step in June 2021. In November 2023, it was announced that Kim Kardashian will star in and produce a comedy film called The Fifth Wheel for Netflix. Kim Kardashian will also star in and produce a legal drama series for Hulu called All's Fair, where she will play a divorce attorney. In 2000, when she was 19, Kim Kardashian married music producer Damon Thomas. They divorced in 2004. Before her divorce was final, she started dating singer Ray J. Kim then dated football player Reggie Bush and later NFL player Miles Austin.

In May 2011, Kim Kardashian got engaged to NBA player Kris Humphries. They had been dating since October 2010. They got married on August 20 in Montecito, California. Kim released a "wedding fragrance" called "Kim Kardashian Love" to go along with her wedding. A TV special showing the wedding preparations aired in October 2011. After 72 days of marriage, she filed for divorce from Humphries on October 31. Some news outlets wondered if the marriage was a publicity stunt to promote the Kardashian family's brand. Kim denied these claims and settled a lawsuit against someone who said it was staged. The divorce received a lot of media attention.

Kim Kardashian started dating rapper and long-time friend Kanye West in April 2012, while she was still legally married to Humphries. Her divorce was finalized in June 2013. Kim and Kanye got engaged on October 21, Kim's 33rd birthday. They married on May 24, 2014, in Florence, Italy. Their wedding dress was designed by Riccardo Tisci. Because they were both very famous, their relationship received a lot of media coverage.

In January 2021, it was reported that Kim and Kanye were discussing divorce. On February 19, 2021, Kim officially filed for divorce. Religion

Kim Kardashian is a Christian and has said she is "really religious." She went to Christian schools. In October 2019, she was baptized in an Armenian Apostolic ceremony in Armenia and was given the Armenian name Heghine.

In April 2015, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West traveled to Jerusalem to have their daughter baptized in the Armenian Apostolic Church. The ceremony took place at the Cathedral of St. James. In October 2019, Kim baptized her three younger children in Armenia.

Health and Family

Kim Kardashian has four children with Kanye West: two daughters (born in 2013 and 2018) and two sons (born in 2015 and 2019).

Kim has openly talked about difficulties during her first two pregnancies. She had a condition called pre-eclampsia during her first pregnancy, which made her deliver early. After both pregnancies, she developed placenta accreta, a condition where the placenta grows too deeply into the uterus. After her second pregnancy, doctors advised her not to get pregnant again. Her third and fourth children were born using a surrogate mother.

In May 2014, Kim Kardashian was estimated to be worth $45 million. In 2015, Forbes magazine reported that her earnings had almost doubled to $53 million from $28 million in 2014. They said she had "monetized fame better than any other." Much of her income came from her clothing line with Sears, the Kardashian Kollection, and her beauty and tanning products. She also earned a lot from sponsored posts on social media, which could be worth $300,000 to $500,000 per post. By July 2018, Kardashian was worth $350 million.

Kim Kardashian became a billionaire in April 2021. This was thanks to her shapewear company Skims, KKW Beauty, her reality TV shows, and other endorsements and investments. Forbes estimates her net worth to be $1.7 billion as of December 2024, making her one of the wealthiest celebrities.

Paris Robbery (2016)

On October 2, 2016, while attending Paris Fashion Week, Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in her apartment. Five people, dressed as police officers, tied her up and stole $10 million worth of jewelry. The thieves got into her residence by threatening the building's concierge. Once they were in Kim's room, they held a gun to her head and demanded her ring. They then tied her wrists and legs with zip ties and put duct tape over her eyes and mouth. Kim, who was placed in the bathtub, was not physically hurt. She managed to free her hands and call for help. The thieves quickly escaped after finding her jewelry box. After the robbery, filming for the next season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians was paused.

Some people wondered if the robbery was fake. However, Kim Kardashian filed lawsuits against several media outlets for suggesting this. On January 9, 2017, French police arrested 17 people for questioning in the robbery case. Later in 2017, 16 people were arrested for their suspected involvement. In 2020, it was revealed that French prosecutors would seek a trial for 12 of the suspects. The suspects who entered her room were older and were called the 'Grandpa Robbers' by the press.

Kim Kardashian's Activism

In January 2017, Kim Kardashian shared statistics on Twitter about gun violence in the United States versus terrorism in the United States. This tweet went viral and was even mentioned by the Royal Statistical Society. In October 2018, she and her husband met with President Yoweri Museveni in Uganda.

In April 2019, Vogue reported that Kim Kardashian was studying to become a lawyer by "reading law" instead of going to law school. In 2021, she said she had failed her first-year law exam (the "baby bar") twice. In December 2021, she passed the "baby bar" law exam on her fourth try.

In 2020, Kardashian spoke out against the actions of Azerbaijan in the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and supported Armenia. In November 2021, it was reported that Kim Kardashian helped female Afghan soccer players safely travel to England after escaping Afghanistan.

Kim Kardashian is proud of her Armenian heritage. She has often spoken out for the recognition of the Armenian genocide. In April 2016, she wrote an article criticizing The Wall Street Journal for publishing an advertisement that denied the Armenian genocide. In April 2021, Kardashian thanked President Joe Biden for officially recognizing the Armenian genocide, making him the first United States president to do so.

In April 2015, Kim Kardashian traveled to Armenia with her husband, her sister Khloé, and her eldest daughter. They visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial Tsitsernakaberd in Yerevan. On October 10, 2020, Kim Kardashian announced she donated $1 million to Armenia Fund, a group that supports Armenia's development.
