Robert George Kardashian (February 22, 1944 – September 30, 2003) was an American lawyer and businessman. He became well-known as a friend and defense attorney for O. J. Simpson during Simpson's 1995 trial.

Robert Kardashian had four children with his first wife, Kris Kardashian. His children are Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, and Rob. They are famous for appearing on their family's reality TV show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

Robert Kardashian's Early Life and Education

Robert Kardashian was born in Los Angeles, California, on February 22, 1944. His parents, Arthur and Helen Kardashian, were both Armenian Americans. He had two siblings, Barbara and Thomas.

His family came from a region that was once part of the Russian Empire. They were known by the name Kardaschoff. When his grandfather, Tatos, came to the United States, he changed his name to Thomas.

Growing Up and School

Robert grew up in the View Park area of Los Angeles County. He went to Susan Miller Dorsey High School. Later, he attended the University of Southern California. He graduated in 1966 with a degree in business.

He then earned a law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law. He worked as a lawyer for about ten years. After that, he started working in business.

Business Ventures

In 1973, Robert Kardashian helped start a magazine called Radio & Records. He and his partners sold this business in 1979.

Robert Kardashian and the O. J. Simpson Case

Robert Kardashian and O. J. Simpson became close friends around 1967. They met when they were both at the University of Southern California. Simpson was even the best man at Robert and Kris Houghton's wedding in 1978.

Kardashian's Role in the Case

After the deaths of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman in 1994, O. J. Simpson stayed at Kardashian's house. Robert Kardashian was seen carrying Simpson's bag when Simpson returned from Chicago.

When Simpson did not turn himself in to the police, Kardashian read a letter from Simpson to the media.

Simpson was later accused of the deaths. Robert Kardashian had not been actively practicing law, but he reactivated his license. He joined Simpson's legal team as a volunteer assistant. This team was sometimes called the "Dream Team."

As one of Simpson's lawyers, Kardashian could not be forced to testify against him. He sat by Simpson throughout the trial.

Doubts and Later Years

After the trial, Robert Kardashian shared that he had started to have doubts about Simpson's innocence. He mentioned that the blood evidence was a big concern for him. Robert Kardashian and O. J. Simpson eventually stopped speaking to each other.

In July 2003, Robert Kardashian was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. He passed away two months later, on September 30, 2003. He was 59 years old. He died at his home in Encino, Los Angeles. He was buried at Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, California.
