William Gregory Magnussen (born April 20, 1985) is an American actor. He is known for his roles in many movies and TV shows. You might have seen him in films like Into the Woods (2014), Aladdin (2019), and Spy Kids: Armageddon (2023). He has also appeared in TV series such as Maniac (2018) and Made for Love (2021).

Billy Magnussen has also acted on Broadway. He was even nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his role in the play Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike in 2013.

Early life

Billy Magnussen was born in Woodhaven, Queens, New York City. His mother, Daina, was an aerobics instructor. His father, Greg Magnussen, was a professional bodybuilder and kickboxer. Billy has two younger brothers. His grandparents on his mother's side were immigrants from Lithuania. This means he has both Norwegian and Lithuanian family roots.

He lived in Queens until he was 10 years old. Then, his family moved to Cumming, Georgia. Billy finished high school at South Forsyth High School in 2003. Later, he studied acting at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.

Stage

Billy Magnussen started his acting career on stage. His first Broadway show was The Ritz in 2007. In 2012, he acted in the play Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. This play was very popular and was nominated for six Tony Awards. Billy himself was nominated for a Tony Award for his role as Spike.

Film

Billy Magnussen has been in many films. In 2010, he played Claude in the movie Twelve. He also played a World War II hero named Neil Thomas in the 2011 TV movie The Lost Valentine.

A big role for him was playing Rapunzel's Prince in the 2014 movie Into the Woods. In 2019, he joined the Disney family. He played a new character, Prince Anders, in the live-action movie Aladdin. He also appeared in the 25th James Bond film, No Time to Die, in 2021. In 2023, he starred as Rey "The King" Kingston in Spy Kids: Armageddon.
