Anna Kathryn Gunn (born August 11, 1968) is an American actress famous for her award-winning roles on television. She is best known for playing Skyler White on the popular AMC crime drama series Breaking Bad from 2008 to 2013. She also played Martha Bullock on the HBO Western series Deadwood from 2004 to 2006.
For her work on Breaking Bad, Gunn won two Primetime Emmy Awards. She has also appeared in many other TV shows and movies. Some of her film roles include Enemy of the State (1998), Sully (2016), and the Deadwood movie in 2019. Gunn was also the voice of the character Ariel in the Legacy of Kain video game series.

Early Life and School
Anna Kathryn Gunn was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her mother, Shana, and her father, Clemens Earl Gunn Jr., raised her and her brother, Matthew, in Santa Fe. Gunn has a famous relative in her family history. Her great-great-grandfather was William Rufus Day, who served as a justice on the Supreme Court of the United States.
Gunn went to Santa Fe Preparatory School and graduated in 1986. She then studied theater at Northwestern University and earned her degree in 1990. During college, she spent a semester studying acting in England at the British American Drama Academy. After graduating, she moved to Los Angeles to start her acting career.
Acting Career
Early Roles
Gunn's first role on TV was in an episode of Quantum Leap in 1992. From 1997 to 2002, she had a recurring role as Jean Ward on the legal drama The Practice. She also appeared in single episodes of popular shows like Seinfeld and Six Feet Under.
From 2005 to 2006, Gunn was a main character on the HBO series Deadwood, where she played Martha Bullock. She also voiced the character Ariel in four Legacy of Kain video games between 1996 and 2003.
Breaking Bad and Stardom

Gunn's most famous role was playing Skyler White in the AMC series Breaking Bad. She starred in the show for all five seasons, from 2008 to 2013. Her performance was highly praised, and she won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in both 2013 and 2014.
Her character, Skyler, received a lot of dislike from viewers. In 2013, Gunn wrote an article for The New York Times where she discussed why she thought so many people had a strong negative reaction to the character she played.
Roles After Breaking Bad
After Breaking Bad, Gunn continued to act in movies, television, and on stage. In 2014, she starred in the Fox series Gracepoint. That same year, she acted in an Off-Broadway play called ... with Strangers, which was directed by David Schwimmer.
Her movie roles include the financial thriller Equity (2016) and the biographical film Sully (2016), which was directed by Clint Eastwood. In 2019, she returned to her role as Martha Bullock for the movie Deadwood: The Movie. She also appeared in a London stage production of The Night of the Iguana that same year.
Personal Life
In 1990, Gunn married Alastair Duncan, a Scottish actor. They have two daughters, Eila Rose and Emma. The couple divorced in 2009.
