Jafar (Aladdin) facts for kids

Jafar is a well-known evil villain from Disney's Aladdin movies. He first appeared in the animated film in 1992. Jafar is known for his sneaky plans and powerful magic. He wants to take over the kingdom of Agrabah.

Jafar's Story

Jafar grew up in a place called Arabia. He was not happy for many years. One day, Jafar found a special baston (a staff). This staff could hypnotize people. Jafar used it to control the Sultan, the ruler of Agrabah.

Becoming the Vizier

After controlling the Sultan, Jafar became Agrabah's vizier. A vizier is a high-ranking advisor to the ruler. He moved into the royal palace. At the market, Jafar met a clever parrot named Iago. They became friends and worked together.

The Magic Lamp

Jafar and Iago first wanted to steal the Sultan's treasure. But they found something much better: a magic lamp. Inside this lamp lived a powerful genie. This genie could grant wishes to whoever rubbed the lamp.

Jafar's Wishes

Jafar used his first wish to become the new Sultan of Agrabah. But the royal family did not want to obey him. So, Jafar made another wish. He wished to become a very powerful wizard. With this new magic, Jafar took control of Agrabah.

Changing the Palace

Once in charge, Jafar decided to decorate the palace. He painted the throne room red. He also filled it with lots of gold. He even changed the Sultan's throne. The old throne looked like an elephant. Jafar replaced it with a new throne shaped like a snake.

Jafar's Defeat

Despite his great power, Jafar's plans did not last. The hero, Aladdin, fought against him. Aladdin was able to defeat Jafar and stop his evil plans. Jafar returns in the next movie, Aladdin, Return of Jafar.
