The Albany County Sheriff's Office is a local police group in Albany County, Wyoming, United States. It has 46 officers and 8 support staff. As of 2022, the sheriff is Aaron Appelhans. He is the first African-American person to be a sheriff in Wyoming.
In 2020, the previous sheriff resigned. Aaron Appelhans was then chosen to take his place. A state representative made a social media post about Appelhans's new job. After some criticism, the representative deleted the post and apologized. Appelhans has said he wants to make the department more diverse. At the time, he was the only Black officer there. In 2021, Appelhans removed an officer who was accused of treating a Black colleague unfairly.
