Corporal facts for kids
A Corporal is a special rank used in many militaries around the world. It's also used by some police forces and other groups that wear uniforms. Think of it as a step up from a basic soldier, but not yet an officer.
In the United States Army, a Corporal often leads a small group called a "fire team." They might also be the second-in-command of a larger group called a "squad." In the United States Marine Corps, a Corporal is usually the leader of a team, like a machine gun team. They are important leaders who guide their fellow service members.
A Corporal in the U.S. Army is at a similar level to a Specialist. However, a Corporal usually has more leadership duties.
