Albert Mkrtchyan (Armenian: Ալբերտ Մկրտչյան; February 27, 1937 – February 28, 2018) was a famous Armenian film director, screenwriter, and actor. He was known for his amazing movies and was given the "People's Artist of the Republic of Armenia" award in 2003. Albert was also the younger brother of the well-known Soviet actor, Frunzik Mkrtchyan.

About Albert Mkrtchyan
Albert Mkrtchyan was born in 1937 in a city called Leninakan (now Gyumri) in Armenia. He loved art and theater. In 1960, he finished his studies at the Yerevan Fine Arts and Theatre Institute. Later, in 1971, he also graduated from a famous film school in Moscow called the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography.
Albert Mkrtchyan worked as a director for Armenian TV from 1960 to 1966. After that, he became a director at the Hayfilm studio in 1971. Hayfilm is a big movie studio in Armenia. From 1995 to 1999, he led the Gyumri Drama Theater. Then, starting in 2000, he became the director of the Mher Mkrtchyan Artistic Theater. This theater was named after his famous brother.
He also shared his knowledge with young students. He taught at the Armenian State Pedagogical University and the Yerevan State Institute of Theatre and Cinematography.
