Albert Smoke was a member of the Mississauga Anishinaabe First Nations community. He was born in 1894 and grew up in Curve Lake, Ontario.

Even though Albert Smoke was only 4 feet 10 inches tall, he was considered one of the best long-distance runners of his time. His small size didn't stop him from achieving great things in the sport.
National Success
Albert Smoke became the national marathon champion in Canada. He held this title for three years in a row, from 1920 to 1922.
Boston Marathon Achievement
In 1922, he also competed in the famous Boston Marathon. He showed his amazing skill by finishing in third place, which is a big achievement in such a major international race.
