Alberta Tinsley-Talabi (born August 14, 1954) is an American politician and social worker from Detroit, Michigan. She is known for her long career in public service. She has worked to improve her community in many different government roles.
Tinsley-Talabi served in the Michigan House of Representatives, which is part of the state government that makes laws for Michigan. She also served on the Detroit City Council and as a Wayne County Commissioner.

A Career in Public Service
Alberta Tinsley-Talabi has held several important jobs helping the people of Michigan. A person who works in government to help citizens is called a public servant.
Wayne County Commissioner
From 1987 to 1990, Tinsley-Talabi was a Wayne County Commissioner. A county is a large area of land that has its own local government. As a commissioner, she helped make decisions for all the people living in Wayne County, where Detroit is located.
Detroit City Council
After her work with the county, she was elected to the Detroit City Council. She was a member from 1993 to 2009. The City Council is a group of people who make laws and decisions for a city. For 16 years, she helped lead the city of Detroit.
Michigan House of Representatives
In 2010, Tinsley-Talabi was elected to the Michigan House of Representatives. This is a big step up from city government, as she now helped make laws for the entire state of Michigan.
- First Term (3rd District): She was first elected to represent the 3rd District in 2010. She served from 2011 to 2012.
- Second and Third Terms (2nd District): The boundaries of voting districts sometimes change, which is called redistricting. After this happened, she was re-elected in 2012 to represent the 2nd District. This district included parts of Detroit and the cities of Grosse Pointe, Grosse Pointe Farms, and Grosse Pointe Park. She served this district until the end of 2016.

Throughout her career, Alberta Tinsley-Talabi has been recognized for her leadership and hard work. She has received more than 100 awards from national and local groups.
