A Town's Name Change
The town was originally known simply as Alcocero. However, its name changed in 1938. This change happened to honor General Emilio Mola. He was a famous general who died in a plane crash near Alcocero on June 3, 1937. After his death, the leaders of the country decided to add "de Mola" to the town's name. This was done to remember and pay tribute to him.
