Village History and Life
Fuente Carrasca has a long history. Its past is closely tied to farming and raising animals. You can still see many almond trees in the fields nearby. These trees show how important agriculture was. The village is built on a hillside. The land slopes down from east to west.
Early Records of Fuente Carrasca
A writer named Pascual Madoz wrote about Fuente Carrasca in 1849. He included it in his book, "Geographical-statistical-historical dictionary of Spain." Madoz described it as a "Cortijada with 4 houses." A cortijada is a small group of farmhouses. At that time, it was in the province of Albacete. It was also part of the Yeste judicial district.
How the Village is Built
The village is located at the base of a very noticeable hill. The main road into Fuente Carrasca helps to spread out the buildings. This gives the village a long, straight shape. One street runs north to south. It acts as the main path. Most of the older buildings are to the east. Some newer ones are on the west side.
Important Natural Areas
Near Fuente Carrasca, there is one of the biggest mountains in the whole municipality. People have used this mountain for a long time. Records show its use as far back as 1863. At that time, a group was formed to mark its boundaries.
The Village Church
Fuente Carrasca has a small church. It is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin. The Assumption of the Virgin is also the patron saint of the village. This means she is considered its special protector.
Connecting the Village
In 1930, people asked for new roads to be built. One road was requested to connect Fuente Carrasca to the village of Pinilla de los Barruecos. This would help end the village's isolation. Another road was asked for to link it from Los Alejos to the nearby village of Ayna. These roads helped the people of Fuente Carrasca connect with other places.
