This village is located on Route 7. This road is part of a canal path. Alejandro Gallinal is about 142 kilometers (about 88 miles) northeast of Montevideo, the capital city of Uruguay.

The area known today as Alejandro Gallinal has an interesting past. It officially received its current name on December 18, 1952. Before that, it was simply called "Cerro Colorado."
Becoming a Village
Later, on January 28, 1985, the status of Cerro Colorado was changed. A special law officially recognized it as a "Pueblo." This means it was given the official status of a village.
