José Alejandro Gómez Monteverde (born on July 13, 1977) is a filmmaker from Mexico. He is known for directing movies like Bella, Sound of Freedom, and Cabrini.

In 2007, Alejandro Monteverde received a special award called "Outstanding American by Choice". This award honors people who were born in other countries but became U.S. citizens and have achieved great things.

Filmmaking Career

Early Success

Alejandro Monteverde wrote and directed his first film, Bella, in 2006. This movie won a big award called the "People's Choice Award" at the Toronto International Film Festival. Many people loved Bella.

Because of the film's success, Monteverde and his team received honors from important places like the Smithsonian. The Smithsonian Latino Center also gave him a "Legacy Award". Even the President of the United States, George W. Bush, and his wife, Laura Bush, watched the film. They invited Monteverde to a special event at the White House in 2007.

Later Films

In 2015, Monteverde directed and helped write a film called Little Boy. This movie tells a story that takes place during World War II.

He also directed and co-wrote Sound of Freedom. This film stars actors like Jim Caviezel. It was filmed in 2018 but was not released until 2023. This was because of some changes with the film company. Later, Angel Studios helped release the movie.

In 2024, Monteverde directed another film called Cabrini. This movie is about the life of Frances Xavier Cabrini, a famous person. Like Sound of Freedom, this film was also released by Angel Studios.

In 2022, Alejandro Monteverde received a Humanitarian Award. This award was given to him by the Coronado Island Film Festival.

Personal Life

Alejandro Monteverde married American actress Ali Landry on April 8, 2006, in Mexico. They have three children together. Their daughter was born in 2007, and their sons were born in 2011 and 2013. One of their sons was named Valentin Francesco. His middle name was inspired by Pope Francis, who blessed their baby when they met him.
