Alejandro Jadresic facts for kids
Alejandro Jadresic Marinovic (born June 6, 1956 – died June 5, 2019) was a smart Chilean who studied how businesses work and how countries use their money. He was also a university teacher. He worked as the Minister of Energy for Chile from 1994 to 1998. He served under President Eduardo Frei.
Becoming a Leader and Teacher
Alejandro Jadresic's parents were Víctor Jadresic Vargas, a psychiatrist, and Mimi Marinovic, a university teacher. He went to high school at Liceum A-8 in Santiago, Chile. He got one of the best scores on the Academic Aptitude Exam in the whole country. This helped him get into the University of Chile.
He earned a master's degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Chile. Later, he went to Harvard University in the United States. There, he earned a Ph.D. in economics in 1984.
After finishing his studies, Jadresic came back to Chile. He started working as a teacher. He also became active in groups that wanted to end the government led by Pinochet. Even though he was involved, he always stayed independent. He did not join any of the main political parties that were against Pinochet.
He later became the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Sciences at the Adolfo Ibáñez University. He also served on the board of Entel. This is a major telecommunications company in Chile. He was also the director of his own business, Jadresic Consulting Ltd.
Awards and Recognition
Alejandro Jadresic received important awards for his work. In 2005, the School of Engineers of Chile gave him the Best Engineer Award. He also received the Order of Prince Trpimir from the country of Croatia.
