Alessandro is a small, quiet place in Riverside County, California. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government like a city does. Instead, it's managed by the county.
Alessandro is located about 9 miles (14 km) east of the city of Riverside. It sits at an elevation of 1,535 feet (468 meters) above sea level. This community was built along the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad line.
History of Alessandro
How Alessandro Got Its Name
The community of Alessandro was officially started in 1887. It was named after the main hero in a famous novel called Ramona. This book was written by Helen Hunt Jackson and was very popular at the time.
The Alessandro Post Office
For a while, Alessandro had its own post office. It opened in 1888, just a year after the community was laid out. The post office served the area for several years, closing down in 1902.
