Early Life and High School
Alex Blackwell grew up in Toms River, New Jersey. He started playing basketball at Toms River High School North. For his final year of high school, he moved to Oak Hill Academy. This school is well-known for its strong basketball program.
College Basketball Career
After high school, Alex Blackwell went to Monmouth College. Today, this school is known as Monmouth University. He played college basketball there from 1989 to 1992.
Playing in the NBA
In 1992, Alex Blackwell was drafted into the NBA. He joined the famous Los Angeles Lakers team. During the 1992–93 NBA season, he played in 27 games for the Lakers. He averaged about 1.3 points and 0.9 rebounds per game.
Playing in the CBA
After his time in the NBA, Blackwell played in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). The CBA was a professional basketball league in the United States. He played for several teams from 1993 to 1997. These teams included the Omaha Racers, Connecticut Pride, Fort Wayne Fury, Rockford Lightning, and Yakima Sun Kings. In 1996, he was recognized for his skills and was chosen for the All-CBA Second Team.
International Career
Alex Blackwell also played basketball in many different countries. He played for teams in places like Turkey, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Venezuela, Mexico, Chile, and Brazil. His career took him all over the world. He retired from playing professional basketball in 2009.
