Early Life and Education
Alex Briley grew up in Harlem and later Mount Vernon, New York. His father was a Christian minister. From a young age, Alex sang in church. He later studied singing at the University of Hartford. Alex has two brothers, Timothy and Jonathan.
Music Career
Alex Briley met producer and composer Jacques Morali through another member of the Village People, Victor Willis. When he first started performing, Alex wore jeans and a T-shirt. However, he soon took on the role of a soldier for the group's 1978 album, Cruisin'. In 1979, when the group recorded their hit song In the Navy, he appeared as a sailor.
