Alexander Bradshaw Campbell, born on December 1, 1933, is a Canadian politician. He was the 23rd Premier of Prince Edward Island (PEI) from 1966 to 1978. A Premier is like the leader of the government for a province.
Alexander Campbell is the son of Thane A. Campbell, who was also a Premier. Alexander started his political journey by winning a special election in 1965. This election helped him get a seat in the province's law-making body, called the legislature.
Later in 1965, he became the leader of the PEI Liberal Party. In 1966, his party won the election. At 32 years old, he became one of the youngest Premiers ever in Canada. He also served as the Attorney-General from 1966 to 1969. The Attorney-General is the chief legal advisor to the government.
