Técnico Universitario
Playing from 2010 to 2012
Alex Colón joined Técnico Universitario and quickly became a key player. In the 2011 season, he scored 11 goals in the Serie B league. His first goal that year was against River Plate. He also scored against teams like Deportivo Quevedo and LDU Portoviejo.
In the 2012 Serie A season, Alex started strong. He scored three goals in one game against Olmedo, which is called a hat-trick. He also scored against big teams like LDU Quito, Emelec, and Barcelona SC. He scored the winning goal against Barcelona SC twice that season. Alex finished the 2012 season with 10 goals. His great performance led to interest from other clubs.
Deportivo Quito
Joining in 2013
In 2013, Alex Colón moved to Deportivo Quito and was given the number 10 jersey. He continued to score amazing goals. His first goal for the club was a long-range shot against Deportivo Quevedo. He also scored a clever chipped goal over Barcelona's goalkeeper, Maximo Banguera.
Alex scored against Deportivo Cuenca and Emelec with impressive shots. He even scored a chipped goal against LDU Quito, helping his team win against their city rivals. In one game against Deportivo Cuenca, he scored two fantastic goals. One was from outside the box, and the other was a brilliant shot from the middle of the field. He ended the season by scoring against Macara, El Nacional, and Independiente del Valle.
Pachuca
After his successful time at Deportivo Quito, Alex Colón moved to Pachuca in Mexico. He scored his first goal for Pachuca on January 25, 2014, in a game against Club León.
Loan to Mineros Zacatecas
Later, Alex Colón was loaned to Mineros de Zacatecas, another Mexican team, to gain more playing experience.
International career
Because of his excellent performance in the 2013 season, Alex Colón was called up to play for the Ecuador National Team. The coach, Reinaldo Rueda, selected him for the 2014 World Cup Qualifier matches.
He played his first unofficial game for the national team in a friendly match against LDU Quito. Alex came in as a substitute and scored two goals in a big 5-0 win.
