Alexander M. Dreier (born June 26, 1916 – died March 11, 2000) was an American news reporter and commentator. He was known for his work on NBC Radio in the 1940s. Later, he worked for the ABC Information Radio network in the 1960s and early 1970s. After his broadcasting career, Dreier became an actor. He appeared in many TV shows and movies.

Alex Dreier's Early Life and Career
Alex Dreier was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. He went to Stanford University and graduated in 1939. After college, he started working in journalism. He was a reporter for United Press in Berlin when he joined NBC in 1941. While in Berlin, he was watched by the Gestapo. He left the city just one day before the Pearl Harbor attack.
His news commentary was heard on NBC radio. It aired on Saturdays from 1942 to 1945. Later, it was on weekdays from 1951 to 1956. Dreier was known as Chicago's "Man on the Go." He was a top TV news anchor in Chicago on NBC's WNBQ-TV. He also reported news for NBC-TV's Today on the Farm from 1960 to 1961. In 1962, he moved to WBKB-TV, which was owned by ABC.
From 1959 to 1964, Dreier also co-hosted a TV show called Championship Bridge. He hosted it with Charles Goren.
Later Years and Acting Career

In 1967, Alex Dreier moved to California. He worked for KTTV in Los Angeles. At the same time, he started a new career as an actor. He appeared in many films. Some of these included Chandler (1971) and The Carey Treatment (1972). He also acted in TV shows like Mannix, Kojak, and Hart to Hart. His acting career lasted from 1968 to 1979.
Dreier was also involved in helping medical centers. He was the chairman of the board for the Annenberg Center for Health Sciences. He also served as a board member for the Eisenhower Medical Center. In 1989, he was honored for his broadcasting work. He was added to the Illinois Broadcasters Hall of Fame. He also served on the board of trustees for Shimer College.

Alex Dreier passed away on March 11, 2000. He died in Rancho Mirage, California. He is buried in Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City, California.
