Alexander Vargas Blay (born 17 February 1988) is a talented Danish singer, guitarist, and songwriter. He was born in Denmark. His mother is Danish-English, and his father is from Uruguay.
Alex Vargas's Musical Journey
When Alex was 17, he moved to London to follow his dream of becoming a musician. There, he signed with a record company called Geffen Records. He then started a band called Vagabond. This band became quite popular, selling out two tours across the UK. They also played at big music festivals like Glastonbury, T in the Park, and V.
On 16 February 2010, Alex decided to leave Vagabond to start his own solo music career.
In 2013, Alex performed as a singer with the electronic music group Above & Beyond. He helped write five songs for their album, We Are All We Need. This album was very successful, reaching number one on the US Dance/Electronic Albums chart.
In 2014, Alex signed with Copenhagen Records. He began creating new music with his friend and fellow musician, Tommy Sheen. His first song with Copenhagen Records was "Till Forever Runs Out." After that, he released "Solid Ground" in 2015, which became a huge online hit. This song was part of his EP (a shorter album) called Giving Up the Ghost, released in 2016. The EP was very popular, reaching number one on the music charts in Denmark and the Netherlands. His song "Shackled Up" also hit number one on the Danish singles chart.
Music critics have described Alex as a soulful artist whose music is "engrossing, poetic and openly emotional."
On 16 February 2017, Alex announced his second full album, Cohere, which came out on 31 March 2017.
He also helped write the song "Beautiful Mess" for Bulgaria's entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. The song was sung by Kristian Kostov and came in second place, which was Bulgaria's best result ever in the contest!

Alex Vargas has received several awards and nominations for his music. In 2016, he won the prestigious Danish Artist of the Year award at the Danish Music Awards. He was also nominated for many other awards, including New Danish Name of the Year and Danish Songwriter of the Year. His EP Giving Up The Ghost was nominated for Danish Release of the Year.
