Alexa Hampton is an American interior designer who lives in New York City. She leads her own interior design company, Mark Hampton LLC. She also creates home furnishings through her company, Alexa Hampton Inc. She is also a creative director and partner for a company called The Mine, which used to be known as ATGStores.com.
Alexa Hampton's Journey
Alexa Hampton finished her studies at Brown University in 1993. After that, she studied at New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts. She studied in both Florence, Italy, and New York City.
She started her career working with her father, Mark Hampton, who was also a famous interior designer. She began as an apprentice, learning from him. Later, she became a senior designer. When her father passed away in 1998, Alexa took over his company, Mark Hampton LLC.
In 2000, Alexa Hampton launched her first product line. It was a collection of fabrics made with Kravet. She also designs furniture for Hickory Chair, lighting for Visual Comfort, and carpets for Stark Carpet. In 2016, she became a spokesperson and advisor for ATGStores.com, which is now called The Mine.

- Since 2002, she has been on Architectural Digest’s list of the world’s top 100 interior designers and architects.
- She was also named one of “America’s 100 Best Designers” by House Beautiful magazine.
- In 2002, New York Magazine named her one of New York’s “100 Best Architects and Designers.”
- Interiors Magazine recognized her as one of eight leading women in the design industry.
- Cosmopolitan Magazine called her one of twelve “Fun, Fearless Females.”
- In 2005, she received the “American Spirit Award” from the American Folk Art Museum. This was for her work designing the inside of the Trowbridge House. This house is a special guest house in Washington, DC, for former presidents of the United States.
- In 2008, she received an honorary doctorate degree from Moore College of Art & Design.
- She often gives talks about design across the country.
On Television
Alexa Hampton has appeared on television shows to share her design knowledge.
- She was a senior design consultant for the PBS TV show This Old House. She was the first and only woman to regularly appear on the show.
- She also co-hosted a PBS series called Find!. She helped create a special magazine edition of Find! and contributed to their website.
- She continues to make various appearances on television.
