His Early Life and Education

Alexander went to school at Hackney and Harrow. After that, he attended St John's College, Cambridge and later Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. He worked hard and earned two degrees: a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in 1826 and a Master of Arts (M.A.) in 1829.

A Scientist in the Making

Even though he qualified as a Bachelor of Medicine (M.B.) in 1829, Alexander never worked as a doctor. Instead, he chose to follow his passion for science. He was very interested in chemistry and natural philosophy. To learn even more, he traveled to Paris to study these subjects.

Becoming a Fellow of the Royal Society

In 1829, Alexander Luard Wollaston was chosen to be a Fellow of the Royal Society. This is a big deal! It means he was recognized as an important scientist by one of the oldest and most respected scientific groups in the world.

Alexander's Family Life

On March 16, 1837, Alexander married Susanna Charlotte Morris in Ryde. Susanna was born on June 13, 1807. They had a family together, including two sons and four daughters. Alexander Luard Wollaston passed away on June 10, 1874, at the age of 69.
