Alexandra Fol is a talented composer who writes music. She was born on July 11, 1981, in Sofia, Bulgaria. Today, she lives in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She is known for creating many different kinds of musical pieces.

Alexandra has written over 40 pieces of music. These pieces have been played by many different groups. Some of these groups include the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra and the McGill University Orchestra. Her music has also been performed by the Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal.

Music for Young Audiences

In 2005, Alexandra was one of four composers asked to write a special piece. This piece was for children to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Montréal Symphony Orchestra's Children's series. Her work, called "Pegasus," was played throughout the 2005-2006 season. It was also put on an educational CD for children.

Some of her important early performances include "Two Songs for Voice and Orchestra." This piece was first played by one of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestras in 1994. Another important performance was her "Concerto for Violin" in 2001. This piece was played on a very old violin from the 16th century.

Awards and Studies

Alexandra has received many honors for her music. She was a finalist for the Gaudeamus International Composers Award in 2006. She also became a composition fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center in 2007. She has received grants from organizations like the Canada Council for the Arts.

Alexandra studied music composition at several well-known schools. These include Boston University, the Eastman School of Music, and McGill University. She learned from important teachers like John Rea.
