Alf Duncan, born on September 7, 1977, is a former professional rugby league player from Australia. He played as a winger and centre. He was known for his time with the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles in the National Rugby League (NRL) during the late 1990s. He also proudly represented the Australian Aborigines and the United States in international matches.

Alf Duncan's Rugby League Journey

Starting with Manly Sea Eagles

Alf Duncan began his professional rugby league career with the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles. He made his first big game appearance, called a "first grade debut," in 1998. This was in a game against the Sydney City Roosters. In that game, he scored a try, which is like a touchdown in rugby league.

Later in 1998, Alf scored three tries in one game, which is called a "hat-trick." This helped Manly win a close game against the Balmain. He played in a playoff game that year, but his team lost. Alf finished 1998 as one of Manly's top try scorers.

Moving to Other Teams

In 1999, Alf played only a few games for Manly. At the end of that year, the Manly team joined with another team, North Sydney, to form a new team called the Northern Eagles. Alf was not offered a spot on this new team.

After leaving Manly, Alf joined the Wests Tigers. However, he faced a challenge when he got a serious knee injury. This injury meant he couldn't play for most of the 2000 season. He then moved to the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, but he didn't get many chances to play there. So, in 2001, he joined the Newtown Jets in a league called the NSW Cup.

Alf later tried out for the Melbourne Storm team before the 2002 season. He played in a trial game, but he didn't make it into their main team. He then returned to play for the Newtown Jets.

Playing for His Country

Representing the Australian Aborigines

In 1999, Alf Duncan had the honor of playing for the Australian Aborigines team. He played two games against Papua New Guinea, showing his skills on an international stage.

Playing for the United States

In 2000, Alf also played for the United States national team. He played three games in a special tournament called the 2000 Emerging Nations World Cup. In one game against Morocco, he scored an impressive 20 points! This included two tries and six goals, which are kicks for extra points.
