Biography
Alfonso de Fonseca was born in 1422. His parents were Pedro de Ulloa y Fonesca and Isabel de Quijada.
Alfonso became a bishop because of his important work for the King of Spain. In 1469, the King appointed him as the Bishop of Ávila. This appointment was then confirmed by Pope Paul II. The Pope was the head of the Catholic Church at that time.
On February 25, 1470, Alfonso was officially made a bishop. This ceremony was performed by other bishops. These included Giacopo Antonio Venier, who was the Bishop of Cuenca.
Later, Alfonso served in other important roles. In 1485, Pope Innocent VIII appointed him as the Bishop of Cuenca. Then, in 1493, Pope Alexander VI appointed him as the Bishop of Osma. He continued to serve as Bishop of Osma until his death in 1505.
