Alfredo dos Santos (born January 1, 1920 – died October 23, 1997), known as Alfredo II, was a talented Brazilian footballer. He played as a Midfielder, a player who helps both attack and defense on the field. Alfredo II was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
He spent most of his career playing for Vasco da Gama. He also played for the Brazilian national team. Alfredo II was part of the Brazilian team that played in the 1950 FIFA World Cup.

Who Was Alfredo II?
Alfredo dos Santos was a famous Brazilian football player. He was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1920. He became known as "Alfredo II" because another player named Alfredo was already at his main club, Vasco da Gama. To tell them apart, he was called "Alfredo the Second."
Playing for Clubs
Alfredo II spent most of his football career playing for a team called Vasco da Gama. He played there from 1937 to 1948. He then had a short time playing for another club, Flamengo, in 1949. After that, he returned to Vasco da Gama and played there until 1956.
Winning Trophies
During his time with Vasco da Gama, Alfredo II helped his team win many important championships. He won the Carioca Tournament five times. This is a major football competition in the state of Rio de Janeiro. He won it in 1945, 1947, 1949, 1950, and 1952.
He also helped Vasco da Gama win the South American Club Championship in 1948. This was a very important tournament for clubs in South America.
Playing for Brazil
Alfredo II also played for the Brazilian national team. He played for his country from 1944 to 1950. He played in four matches for Brazil and scored one goal.
The 1950 World Cup
One of the biggest moments in his career was playing in the 1950 FIFA World Cup. This World Cup was held in Brazil. Alfredo II played in one match during the tournament. On June 28, 1950, he started the game against Switzerland. He scored a goal very early in that match, in the third minute. The game ended in a 2–2 tie.
