About Ali Vegas
Starting in Hip-Hop
Ali Vegas began his music career in the late 1990s. He learned a lot from older rappers like Onyx. His songs started appearing on popular underground mixtapes. These are like collections of songs shared by DJs.
He signed with Columbia Records in the early 2000s. His first song, "Theme of N.Y.", came out in 2000. Later, he joined Tommy Mottola's new label, Casablanca Records. However, his full album was not released by these big labels.
Building His Own Music Companies
Because his albums weren't released, Ali Vegas decided to create his own record label. He named it Council Recordings. He kept making music for mixtapes. One of his songs, "The AV Theme", was produced by the famous Kanye West.
In 2005, Ali Vegas teamed up with his cousin, basketball player Lamar Odom. They started a company called Rich Soil Entertainment. The name came from one of Vegas's rap lyrics. This company was meant to release Ali Vegas's first official album.
Recent Music and Ventures
In April 2010, Ali Vegas released a mixtape called Veganomics. He also talked about his other business ideas outside of music. In May 2011, Ali Vegas returned to making music. He worked with a production team from Australia called Sound Kamp. Together, they released a six-song album titled Bridging the Gap.
