Alice Taylor was born on February 28, 1938. She grew up on a farm in Lisdangan, near Newmarket in North Cork, Ireland. She went to school at Drishane Convent.

Before she got married, Alice worked in a town called Bandon. In 1961, she married Gabriel Murphy. After they married, she moved to Innishannon. There, she was very busy! She managed a guesthouse, ran the local post office, and also had a shop. Her husband, Gabriel, passed away in 2005. Alice and Gabriel had five children together: four sons and one daughter.

Her Journey as a Writer

Alice Taylor started her writing journey by editing a local magazine. It was called Candlelight and she published it in 1984. Two years later, in 1986, she released a book of her poems. This book also had lovely pictures.

Her First Famous Book

Alice became very famous in May 1988. This was when her book, To School Through the Fields, was published. This book was a huge success! Many people wanted to read it.
