Alicia Banit (born September 5, 1990) is an Australian actress and dancer. She is most famous for playing Kat in the ABC TV show Dance Academy. She also had important roles in We Were Tomorrow and Playing for Keeps.

About Alicia Banit
Early Life and Dance Training
Alicia Banit grew up in Melbourne, Australia. She started dancing when she was only four years old. She learned many dance styles like tap, jazz, ballet, and hip hop.
When she was 12, Alicia received a special scholarship. This allowed her to study at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School. There, she learned even more dance styles, including contemporary and acrobatics. She finished her school studies at St Helena Secondary College.
Starting Her Acting Career
Alicia's first acting job was in a 1998 Australian movie called Dead Letter Office. She was only six years old and played a younger version of the main character.
After this, she appeared in comedy skits on TV shows like In Melbourne Tonight and Rove. Then, she took a break from acting to focus on her dancing.
Returning to Acting
When Alicia was 16, she started acting again. She had a guest role in the TV soap opera Neighbours in 2006. She played a character named Madison Sullivan. She returned to Neighbours in 2008 as a different character, Sharni Hillman.
From 2007 to 2009, Alicia also had guest roles in the Australian Disney Channel series As The Bell Rings. She played a character named Amber. In 2007, she was cast as Kaitlyn in the TV series Summer Heights High.
In 2008, Alicia appeared in the TV show Rush. She played Gemma Rose Parker. The next year, in 2009, she played Leah in the first season of the Australian drama series Tangle.
Becoming a Star in Dance Academy
Later in 2009, Alicia got one of her most famous roles. She was cast as Katrina Karamakov in the ABC television series Dance Academy. This show was very popular and focused on young dancers.
In August 2010, Alicia also co-hosted the ABC3 show Studio 3 for a week. She hosted alongside Kayne Tremills and Amberly Lobo.
Recent Roles
Alicia has continued to act in various TV shows. In 2017 and 2018, she appeared in Superwog. In 2018, she was a main cast member in We Were Tomorrow. She also had a recurring role in Playing for Keeps.
She played Chloe Rose Lattanzi in the TV miniseries Olivia Newton-John: Hopelessly Devoted to You in 2018. More recently, she appeared in Ms Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries (2019), Summer Love (2022), and Crazy Fun Park (2023).
Family Life
Alicia Banit shared on her Instagram that she became a mother. Her first child, a daughter named Isla Joy, was born on October 10, 2022.
