How Studio 3 Worked
Studio 3 started as a daily morning show, airing at 7:00 AM. Its main goal was to give ABC3 a friendly personality. The hosts became the faces of the channel, helping it connect with its audience. Over time, the show also began airing in the evenings.
The program was a "television block," meaning it featured hosts who presented short segments between other shows. These segments were like mini-shows themselves, lasting from 1 to 3 minutes. The hosts would lead games, competitions, funny skits, and even interview celebrities or feature musical performances. Sometimes, they would show older, popular segments called Studio 3 Gold.
Studio 3 was also a great place to introduce new ABC3 programs. The hosts would often interview the actors from these new shows or even talk to the animators who created them.
The original hosts, Amberley Lobo and Kayne Tremills, created a daily comedy series called Bitcom. It was a mockumentary, which is a fake documentary. A special episode called Bitcom and the Oblivion Ray aired in 2011 and featured other ABC3 hosts. A follow-up series called Airwaves featured later hosts.
In 2013, David Knox from TV Tonight said that Studio 3 was a good place for young presenters to learn. He believed the hosts gained skills and experience that would help them move on to other TV shows later.
Special Episodes and Events
- ABC3's Birthday Bash: On December 4, 2010, a special episode aired to celebrate ABC3's first birthday. Lobo and Tremills counted down the top three favorite moments of the year, chosen by viewers.
- Australia Day Smackdown: Each year on Australia Day, a special 20-minute comedy show called Smackdown was produced. It was a funny story that brought all the ABC3 hosts together to play games or sports that kids might enjoy on Australia Day.
