Alicia Giménez Bartlett was born on June 10, 1951, in Almansa, Spain. She is a Spanish writer famous for her detective novels. Her most well-known character is a detective named Petra Delicado.

Alicia Giménez Bartlett published her first novel, Exit, in 1984.
In 1997, she wrote a book called Una habitación ajena. This title means A Faraway Room. The story was about the famous writer Virginia Woolf and her servant. This book helped her win the Premio Femenino Singular award.
Her Petra Delicado books are very popular! They have been translated into many languages. People especially love them in Germany and Italy. In 1999, the character Petra Delicado became the main star of a TV series. Later, four of her novels were used for an Italian TV series called Petra. This show first aired in September 2020.
In 2011, Alicia Giménez Bartlett won another important award, the Premio Nadal. She received it for her novel Donde nadie te encuentre.
She has lived in the city of Barcelona since 1975.
