History
The community of Alida has a short but interesting history. A post office was first opened here in 1898. A post office is where people send and receive mail. It also helps connect communities. This post office served the people of Alida for many years. However, it eventually closed down in 1945.
The name "Alida" was chosen by John Lind. He was a very important person in Minnesota's history. John Lind served as the 14th Governor of Minnesota. A governor is the leader of a state. It is thought that he might have named Alida after another place. This other place could have been in Indiana or Kansas.
