Alison Margaret Bauld (born 7 May 1944) is an Australian writer and composer. She lives and works in London, England. She is known for creating music and writing books.

Alison Bauld was born in Sydney, Australia. She started her music journey by studying piano at the New South Wales Conservatorium of Music. She also learned acting at the National Institute of Dramatic Art.

After her acting studies, she toured for a year as an actress, performing in plays by Shakespeare. She then earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Sydney.

Alison continued her education in England. She received a scholarship to study how to write music (composition). She learned from famous composers like Elisabeth Lutyens and Hans Keller. In 1974, she earned a special degree called a doctorate in composition from the University of York.

After finishing her studies, Alison Bauld became a composer and a music teacher. Her musical pieces have been performed in many countries around the world. She even received an award for her music created for dance.
