Alison Joy Bielski (born Prosser, later Treverton-Jones; 24 November 1925 – 9 July 2014) was a talented Welsh poet and writer. She was known for her books like Flower Legends of Wales and Tales and Traditions of Tenby.
Alison also wrote several booklets about local history. These included Flower Legends of Wales (1974), Tales and Traditions of Tenby (1981), and The Story of St Mellons (1985). From 1969 to 1974, she was a special secretary for the English-language part of Yr Academi Gymreig. This is a national group for writers in Wales.

Alison Joy Prosser was born on November 24, 1925, in Newport, Wales. Her family, the Morris Prossers, had lived near Tintern Abbey since the 11th century.
She went to Newport High School until she was 16. After that, she trained to be a secretary. In 1945, she became a private secretary for the press officer at the Bristol Aeroplane Company. Later, she worked in her family's engineering business.
Alison was married twice. Her first husband, Dennis Treverton-Jones, passed away in 1950. They had one son named Ronald. She then worked as a welfare secretary for the British Red Cross in Cardiff. In 1955, she married Anthony Bielski. They had a daughter named Helen.
Starting Her Writing Journey
Alison Bielski's poems first appeared in small publications. Her first book, Twentieth-Century Flood, came out in 1964. Four years later, Shapes and Colours was published. Her first book with a hard cover was Across the Burning Sand in 1970.
She wrote many collections of poems and often shared her work in magazines. Alison loved to get ideas from Welsh folklore and old stories. Her poems were published in many countries, including India, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Her Special Way with Words
Alison Bielski's writing style was quite unique. Some people thought her poems were very "modern" or "experimental." This was because she used very little punctuation and did not use capital letters.
One of her books, The Story of the Welsh Dragon, was very special. It was chosen as an official souvenir for the Investiture of the Prince of Wales in 1969. This was a big honor for her work.
A Legacy of Stories
Alison Bielski passed away on July 9, 2014. She was cremated in Cardiff on July 24. She left behind her son, daughter, six grandchildren, and one great-grandson. Her stories and poems continue to be a part of Welsh literature.
