This table ranks all the teams that have ever played in the Bundesliga. It helps us understand which clubs have earned the most points over time.
Key to the Table Colors
The table uses different colors to help you quickly understand a team's status:
This color means the team is currently playing in the Bundesliga. | |

This color is for teams that were part of the first Bundesliga season but are not currently in the top league. |
What the Columns Mean
The table has many columns, each telling us something important about a team's history in the Bundesliga:
- Rank: This is the team's position in the all-time list. Number 1 is the best!
- Club: The name of the football team.
- Years: How many seasons the team has played in the Bundesliga.
- Cons: The number of seasons a team has played in the Bundesliga without being relegated (sent down to a lower league).
- Pld (Matches played): The total number of games the team has played.
- W (Wins): The total number of games the team has won.
- D (Draws): The total number of games that ended in a tie.
- L (Losses): The total number of games the team has lost.
- GF (Goals For): The total number of goals the team has scored.
- GA (Goals Against): The total number of goals scored against the team.
- GD (Goal Difference): This is the number of goals scored minus the number of goals against. A higher number is better!
- Pts (Points): The total points the team has earned. Teams get points for wins and draws.
- C (Championships): How many times the team has won the Bundesliga title.
- BR (Best Result): The best position the team finished in at the end of any season.
- Win%: The percentage of games the team has won.
- First: The first season the team played in the Bundesliga.
- Latest: The most recent season the team played in the Bundesliga.
- Current league: The league the team is playing in right now.
Top Teams in Bundesliga History

FC Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich is at the very top of the all-time Bundesliga table. They have played 55 seasons and have won the most championships (29!). They have also scored the most goals and have the best goal difference. This shows they are truly a dominant force in German football.
Borussia Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund is another very strong team, ranking second. They were one of the founding members of the Bundesliga in 1963. They have won 5 championships and have played many seasons in the top league. They are known for their exciting style of play and passionate fans.
Werder Bremen
Werder Bremen is ranked third and is also a founding member of the Bundesliga. They have played more seasons than any other team (56 seasons!) and have won 4 championships. This team has a long and rich history in the league.
Hamburger SV
Hamburger SV (often called HSV) is ranked fourth. They were also a founding member of the Bundesliga and played for 55 consecutive seasons before being relegated. They have won 3 championships and are a very important part of Bundesliga history.
VfB Stuttgart
VfB Stuttgart is another founding member of the Bundesliga, ranking fifth. They have won 3 championships and have played in the league for 53 seasons. They have a strong history and a dedicated fan base.
Important Notes on the Table Data
Sometimes, teams might have points taken away as a penalty. For example:
- In the 2003–04 season, 1. FC Kaiserslautern lost three points.
- In the 1999–2000 season, Eintracht Frankfurt lost two points.
- In the 1993–94 season, Dynamo Dresden lost four points.
- Also, in the 1971–72 season, Arminia Bielefeld had their entire record from that season removed as a penalty.
These penalties can affect a team's total points in the all-time table.
