AllMovie (which used to be called All Movie Guide) is a website that works like a huge online library. It has lots of information about movies, TV shows, and the actors who star in them. As of 2015, the website AllMovie.com and its brand are owned by a company called RhythmOne.
AllMovie's Story
AllMovie was started by a person named Michael Erlewine. He was very good at collecting information about popular culture, like movies and music. Michael Erlewine also created other similar websites, such as AllMusic (for music) and AllGame (for video games).
The information from AllMovie was used by many different businesses. These included stores and online shops. They used the database for their sales systems and websites. The AllMovie database is very complete. It includes basic details about movies, who acted in them, who made them, and what the story is about. It also has reviews from experts and information about actors' lives.
You could find AllMovie's information on its website. It was also available through a special service called AMG LASSO. This service could automatically recognize DVDs.
In 2007, a company called TiVo Corporation bought AMG. Later, in 2013, the websites AllMusic.com, AllMovie.com, and AllGame.com were sold again. This time, they were bought by All Media Network. The people who started SideReel were also part of this purchase.
Today, the company that owns AllMovie, RhythmOne, has offices in San Francisco, California, and Ann Arbor, Michigan, in the United States.
