The Story of All Hallows Church
Building the Original Church
All Hallows Church was built a long time ago, between 1873 and 1874. A well-known church architect named Ewan Christian designed it. The money to build the church came from the Clothworkers' Company. They used funds from an older church, All Hallows Staining, which was taken down in 1873.
Rebuilding After Damage
During the Second World War, the church was damaged by bombs. It was rebuilt between 1954 and 1955 by A P Robinson. He kept some of the original parts but created a new church in an "Early Christian" style. In 2001, the main part of the church, called the nave, was divided. This created a separate area that could be used as a church hall. The church is located in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
Leadership at All Hallows
The main leader of All Hallows Church is called the Rector, and his name is Cris Rogers. In 2010, he and a team from St Paul's, Shadwell came to help grow the church at All Hallows. Cris Rogers worked as a helper priest, called a curate, at the church from 2010 to 2014. During this time, Ric Thorpe was the main priest in charge.
A special ceremony took place in 2015 to officially welcome Cris Rogers as Rector. Adrian Newman, who was the Bishop of Stepney, led this ceremony. Many people had already started coming to the church to worship before this official event.
