All Hallows Church, also known as The Brick Church, is a very old church in Edgewater, Anne Arundel County, Maryland. It's a special historic place in the United States. Records show that this church community, called a parish, has been active since 1682. This means it was around even before Maryland officially set up its first Anglican parishes in 1692.
The church building is made of brick and has a special kind of roof called a hip roof. It was built around 1710 to be the main church for the All Hallows' or South River Parish. Today, this parish is known as All Hallows Parish, South River.
The inside of the church was badly damaged by a fire in 1727. It was updated in 1825 and again in 1885. After another fire in 1940, the church was rebuilt to look just like it did in 1710.
An old cemetery surrounds the church, shaded by large oak trees. Many local families have been buried there over hundreds of years. One important person buried here is Colonel William Burgess (1622–1686). He was a leader in the Maryland colony and gave land to help start the town of Londontowne.
The bell in the church's tower has the year 1727 on it. All Hallows' Church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1969. This list includes important historic places in the country.
Besides the main Brick Church, the parish also has a smaller church called a chapel. This chapel is in Davidsonville. It was built between 1860 and 1865 because the main Brick Church was about 5 miles (8 km) away, which was a long distance back then. The home for the church's minister, called the rectory, is also near the chapel.
All Hallows Parish, South River, is still an active church today. It is part of the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland. The current minister is The Rev. Jeffrey C. Hual.
