A Look Back in Time
This church has been standing for a long, long time! It was first built way back in the 13th century, which means it's over 700 years old. Imagine all the history it has seen! Some parts of the church were repaired and updated in 1866, but its ancient charm remains.
Old Carvings and Art
One of the most interesting things about All Saints' Church is its amazing old carvings. There are two special panels from the early 14th century that are still in the church. They are known for their beautiful details and were probably brought here from a nearby place called Mattersey Priory.
These carvings are very unique because they haven't been changed or "restored" much over the years.
- One panel on the east wall shows a story about St Martin. He is seen sharing his cloak with a beggar, which teaches us about kindness.
- The other panel on the west wall shows St Helena. She is depicted finding the true cross, an important symbol in Christian history.
